Online Talk: “Sakura & Pearls”

Tune in on Thursday May 14th at 2pm PT/5pm ET for an online talk via Zoom hosted by Pacific Historic Parks. I’ll be talking about how meeting an Atomic Bomb Survivor, Okihiro Terao-san, inspired me to make a documentary called “Sakura & Pearls: Healing from World War II”.

In April of last year, Japanese Atomic Bomb survivors from Hiroshima flew out to meet the American Pearl Harbor Survivors at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center in Hawaii. The documentary exclusively captured this historic meeting. I’m often asked, “What inspired you to make this film?” It all started when I met Terao-san outside the Atomic Dome in the Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park.

Learn about how I met Terao-san and hear about his story of surviving the first atomic bomb as a 4 year old child. His house was only 300 meters away from the epicenter of the A-bomb, yet he lived to share his story.

This 40 minute talk is free and open to the public, but it requires registration. Click the link in this flyer to register and follow the instructions in the email that they will send to you. Thank you Pacific Historic Parks for including me in your ongoing History Talks series.

If you missed the talk you can see it here along with the Q&A.

Thank you to all who contributed to my GoFundMe campaign.
