One of my readers asked me “How do you meditate?” after reading my last article on Finding Daily Purpose. Here’s my response. Now is a great time to try meditation or to get back into it if you’ve done it before. This guided meditation is only about 2 minutes long, so it’s an easy way to start. Click Here
The 2 Minute Meditation Challenge
Keep going! Meditation will help you to remain calm and centered. Start with the above guided meditation video for your first day, (just 2 minutes). Feel the inhale, then the exhale. Keep it simple.
On your second day of meditation, set the timer on your phone and add an extra minute. So feel your body breathing for a total of 3 minutes. Pay attention to the inhale and then the exhale.
Each day, add 1 more minute of meditation until you reach 10 minutes for the day. Then just repeat 10 minutes everyday. So Day 3 will be a 4 minute timer. Day 4 will be a 5 minute timer, etc until you reach 10 minutes per day. The most important thing is consistency, so don’t skip days.
You can do it at anytime of the day, but it’s easiest to do meditation in the morning before your brain is at full speed, or at night before bed to slow your thoughts. It will help you sleep.
Everybody has busy minds, but when you catch yourself thinking, just say “Thoughts” inside your head, and then return to feeling your hand while breathing. In just 2 weeks, you will build your skill and be meditating 10 mins everyday.
